Sandro Internationally known photographer Sandro has been photographing people for over thirty years.  He became interested in photography at the age of sixteen upon seeing the work of Irving Penn and has since devoted his time to making expressive images.

With numerous award-winning campaigns to his credit, Sandro is one of today’s foremost photographers.  He has photographed many national advertising campaigns for a long list of clients including:  Allstate Insurance, American Express, Anheuser-Busch, BMW, Miller Brewing Company, Dove, Gatorade, Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Nikon, Microsoft, Nike, Adidas, Pony, Champion, and the US Army.

In 2001 Sandro was invited by Cuban government to photograph the country’s greatest national treasure – their athletes.  The project was the first US/Cuban collaboration since the trade embargo.  Sandro’s photographic essay documented the sports heroes of the small country; a country which produced 45 coaches who worked with athletes from a variety of nations at the Olympics in Sydney in 2000; a country which garnered 29 medals there, and placed 8th in the world in total medals won.  The photographs illuminate these dedicated athletes who, until now, have been virtually anonymous and who have offered stellar performances without the prospect of financial compensation, lucrative sponsorships or lasting glory.

Sandro’s editorial work has been featured in The New Yorker, GQ, Esquire, Russian Esquire, Time, Forbes, Details, Stern, Wired, Newsweek, Vibe, Communication Arts, Graphis, Eyemazing, and ESPN Magazine and has been exhibited worldwide.  His most recent solo exhibition premiered at the Scavi Scaligeri International Center For Photography in Verona, Italy.  Sandro has also had a recent solo exhibition in Chicago, featuring images of ballet dancers.  All proceeds from the sales from that exhibition were donated to Dance For Life, an organization that helps pay medical bills for uninsured professional dancers.

Sandro is sponsored by the camera giant Nikon, and is responsible for introducing the latest technology to the professional world.  He has worked on many award-winning and greatly significant projects with Nikon including a portrait session with actor John Malkovich in Croatia, motorcycle racing in Brainerd, MN and most recently, stills and a web video of the roller derby team, The Windy City Rollers.

Throughout Sandro’s successful career, every year he contributes his talents to both community based and national charitable organizations by creating powerful imagery and compelling campaigns soliciting contributions for such organizations as the Food Depository of Chicago, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Milwaukee, Evans Life Foundation, Arts for Life, Dance for Life, AIDS Chicago, AIDS New Jersey, The Good City and The American Heart Association.
