Sharon Joyce Kung was born in New York, and grew up in Hong Kong and California. In 2008 she graduated Cum Laude from the University of California Irvine with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance and Bachelor of Arts in Economics. As an undergraduate, she was a member of Donald McKayle's UCI Etude Ensemble, performed George Balanchine's “Serenade”, and premiered Douglas Becker's “Extreme Memory”. She also worked with artists David Allan, Douglas Becker, Evelyn Cisneros, Diane Diefenderfer, Jodie Gates, Loretta Livingston and Molly Lynch. Sharon’s training included summer intensives at American Ballet Theater, American Dance Festival, Kirov Academy of Ballet and The Juilliard School. Sharon has been an ensemble member of Thodos Dance Chicago since 2008.
