4 Master Classes for Intermediate, Advanced and Professional Dancers

Instructed by Founder and Artistic Director Melissa Thodos, Rehearsal Director & Master Teacher Laura Gates, and senior ensemble members of the Company

$75 for the entire day; $40 for Morning Technique

Intermediate/Advanced Ballet Technique

9:30 - 11:00  taught by Laura Gates

This class is formatted to meet the needs of the contemporary dancer in training. 

Modern and Contemporary Technique

11:00 - 12:30 taught by Melissa Thodos

In the award-winning athletic style of Thodos Dance Chicago, incorporating principles of release, alignment, spatial awareness, fall and recovery, and integrating challenging technical combinations.

12:30 - 1:30

Repertory Class

1:30 - 3:30 Repertory taught by senior TDC dancer/choreographers

Learn the athletic and innovative repertory that makes Thodos Dance Chicago one of the nation's premiere Contemporary dance companies. The Company's repertoire includes exciting choreography taught by Melissa Thodos and ensemble members .The repertory of Thodos Dance Chicago is rich with innovative work that is aesthetic, technical and challenging.

Composition/Improvisation

3:30 - 5:00 Composition/Improvisation taught by senior TDC dancer/choreographers

This class challenges dancers to explore their own unique choreographic voices through principles of composition and improvisation. This exploration process is similar to that which ensemble members experience when choreographing pieces created and performed by the Company for "New Dances." The class will culminate with a classroom showing of each dancer/choreographer's creation.
